Tyne-Tweed Trophy tied 45-45 after brilliant 1st leg setting up a knife-edge finish tonight.

Last night's opening team match at Shielfield Park, which saw the Olympus Marquees Berwick Bandits (Powered by Mike Hope, Wooler) haul back a hard ridden draw with the Newcastle Diamonds is a superbly exciting match.

Olympus Marquees Berwick Bandits (Powered by Mike Hope, Wooler) Open Their Team Season With The Visitors That Started It All In 1968

On Saturday May 18th, 1968 the Newcastle Colts pulled into Shielfield Park to open the first ever season for the brand new Berwick Bandits in a challenge match, and now almost 50 years later, Newcastle Diamonds are back for the Tyne/Tweed Challenge Trophy (1st leg) this Saturday March 25th at 7.00pm.

With the 2017 Speedway season rapidly approaching, Scott Courtney, co-promoter of the Olympus Marquees Berwick Bandits (Powered by Mike Hope Wooler) is looking towards mid-summer when the club get the chance to honour one of the most popular Bandits of them all.

Courtney explained: "Not everyone has the right to call themselves a "Bandits' Legend", but our long serving skipper Kev Doolan most certainly does, and at the height of summer, on the evening of Saturday August the 5th he will celebrate his well deserved testimonial with us all at Shielfield Park!

Farewell Dick!

As the winter of great change continues at the Olympus Marquees Berwick Bandits (Powered by Mike Hope Wooler), the new managerial team have confirmed that the season opening "50th Season Spectacular" meeting will be the last opportunity to witness a master at work!

Having taken up announcing duties at Berwick Speedway back in 1972, Dick Barrie has made the decision to hand over the microphone and step into retirement from meeting presentation duties after the massive season's opener on March 18th.

Ben Fund Bandits

Three of your 2017 Berwick Bandits will take their place in the season opening Ben Fund Bonanza at the Peugeot Ashfield Stadium, Glasgow, on Sunday 12th of March @ 2pm.
This is a great opportunity to see our skipper Kevin Doolan, our new No.1 Lewis Bridger and the ultra popular Claus Vissing cut their first competitive laps of the 2017 season.

Bandits Covered

Although on-track silverware was hard to come by for speedway’s Olympus Marquees Bandits in 2016, the club proudly lead the way in other very, very significant areas.

The promotion have confirmed the signing of their last two riders for the club’s 50th season in 2017.
