Bandits v Eastbourne tonight at 7.00

The high flying Eagles of Eastbourne swoop into Shielfield Park tonight for a SGB Championship league encounter at the usual 7pm tapes-up.

It's the first time a team from Arlington has graced the Tweedside shale in 23 years, the last time being in October of 1996 in the Conference League, a meeting the Bandits won handsomely 56 - 22 with Linlithgow taking the league.

Berwick vs. Glasgow OFF torrential rain

With the track in perfect condition and 14 riders ready to race, the heavens literally tore apart at 6.50pm with six an a half minutes of the heaviest of torrential rain cascading onto the track, the damage was well and truly done with no chance of racing.

Rescheduled dates will be forthcoming,

Alan Taylor

Alan Taylor, who died yesterday aged 64, was the youngest son of Danny and Liz Taylor, the founders of speedway at Berwick-on-Tweed.

Despite being a double amputee in later years, Alan always had a cheery grin for everyone and anyone as he wheeled himself around our pits on regular Shielfield Park visits, never letting his situation dampen an indomitable spirit.

Glasgow vs. Berwick tonight.... OFF

The weather has caused the early postponement of tonight's away battle in the Championship at the Glasgow Tigers.

Restaging news will follow once agreed.

Bandits set to welcome Bears and new British Champ

Our Mike Hope of Wooler Ltd. Bandits (Powered by Clear Energy Consulting) host the hot-to-trot Redcar Bears on Saturday night at 7, and a fixture which was always going to be competitive, has now been nicely spiced by Bears' captain Charles Wright (Photo above courtesy of Ian Charles) lifting the British Championship at Belle Vue, Manchester last (Monday) night!

An elated Wright said afterwards: “I felt quick all night and I knew if I could get to the dirt first in the final that I’d be away. That’s how it turned out".

Bandits battle well at Edinburgh

The Berwick "Mike Hope of Wooler Ltd." Bandits (Powered by Clear Emery Consulting) are without home action this weekend, but were batting last night at Edinburgh's Armadale Stadium against the Monarchs, and held it tight early on as Coty Garcia won Heat Two, before Aaron Summers (pictured above tonight by Taz Mcd Photography battling Sam Masters) took Heat Five from he gate despite a hard challenge from Ricky Wells throughout in a Bandit's 2-4 to move he match score onto 16-14.

Pushed back to avoid the Speedway of Nations live television event, the Berwick Bandits took the track at 7.30pm to tackle the might of the Somerset Rebels, the side who Berwick pushed so hard on Wednesday but after four heats the Bandits found their task significantly easier leading 16-8 with only Rebel guest, Ben Barker taking a win for the visitors in the fourth.

The best of both

The Bandits management have made the decision to adjust the start time of Saturday’s meeting from 7pm to 7:30pm to enable everyone to watch the Speedway of Nations live on BT Sport and comfortably make start time at Shielfield Park for the Bandits vs. the Somerset Rebels.

The FIM Speedway of Nations airs live on BT Sport 1 from 3:45pm on Saturday and is scheduled to be finished for 7pm.
We will be opening the gates at the regular time of 6pm and parade will commence from 7:15pm.
