Bandits and Monarchs in Cup action this weekend

The Berwick "KLS" Bandits are up against the Edinburgh Monarchs twice in two days as the sides tussle to gain entry into the SGB Championship Knock Out Cup Semi Final with their two-legged quarter final starting on Friday night at Armadale (7.30pm) and the deciding leg on Saturday at Shielfield Park at 7.00pm.

Home again, after two rough defeats on the road, and a battle against the heavy rain was hardly the welcome for Berwick Speedway's co-owner Scott Courtney wanted, having arrived home from the long-run match at Lakeside at 6.20am, and then was back at Shielfield - with a band of track staff - at 7.00am to lay the track covers to protect the surface from the forecast torrential rain.

First met third in the current league table when the table-topping Berwick Bandits landed on the doorstep of the Lakeside Hammers' Purfleet track last night to meet a team led by Nick Morris, Berwick's top man of 2017 hoping to bounce back from a heavy defeat at Sheffield only 24 hours earlier, which saw two blown engines for Nikolaj Busk Jacobsen and one for David Howe and a multitude of other moments of four luck, however no one realised the ensuing marathon would end just five minutes before 11!
