BSPA ANNOUNCE FURTHER DELAY TO 2020 SEASON

The Berwick Bandits received word today from the sport's governing body, the BSPA that the April 15th potential start time has been superseded by a later date after recent discussions. The BSPA statement read as follows:

THE board members of the British Speedway Promoters Ltd are continuing to monitor the situation regarding the Coronavirus crisis on a regular basis.

BSPA/SCB announcement

BRITISH Speedway’s new season has been suspended with immediate effect.

The decision has been taken in line with other sports following the latest update from the government on the Coronavirus crisis.

This suspension will be reviewed on April 15 and the situation will be monitored by the British Speedway Promoters’ Association and Speedway Control Bureau on a daily basis between now and then.

WHAT A TIME TO BE A BANDITS FAN!

Your Berwick Bandits' crew have worked wonders once again this weekend and the new version of the Shielfield Park race track is very close to being race ready!

A new safety fence has been installed on the home straight to allow more flowing exits to the bends and the surface itself has been completely relaid to form a brand new track base with massively improved cambers.

After all of the crazy weather, we took advantage of a beautiful evening in Berwick upon Tweed to take some shots of the track and we can’t wait to see the bikes in action in the very near future!

SHIELFIELD PARK v2.0!

History was made at Shielfield Park Stadium over the weekend!

Work has begun on making the straights, exits and entrances to the corners significantly wider and as you can see in the picture above, this should make for some spectacular racing in 2020 and beyond.

Ian Rae has assembled a great team to assist with the track changes and the club would like to publicly thank George Hepburn for his help over the weekend, ensuring that the work is done to the highest standards.

With the new season drawing closer, this is a very exciting time for the club!
